Jeremy Clarkson shares video of 'shoplifter' at farm shop as Kaleb Cooper rushes to support star

Image
Jeremy Clarkson has shared a clip of CCTV footage from Diddly Squat farm shop of a man appearing to pocket items off the shelves. The clip shows a bearded man, dressed in all-black and wearing a black cap taking a bottle of alcohol from the shelf and slipping it into his coat pocket. As the clip unfolds, he's seen poaching another item from a basket before concealing it on his person. Clarkson shared the video to his Instagram page where he didn't hold back in addressing the incident. He wrote alongside the clip: "This man came 'shopping' at the farm shop. I would like to meet the cu." It didn't take long for Clarkson's followers to react to the incident, including none other than his Diddly Squat righthand man and Clarkson's Farm co-star Kaleb Cooper. Cooper took to the comments to seemingly condemn what he'd seen as he penned: "Such a shame." The police have addressed the incident at Diddly Squat after confirming two me...

Harry Kane joining Man Utd gets green light as Bayern Munich chase Tottenham star

Image
Former Manchester United star Gary Neville has given his old side the green light to sign Harry Kane this summer. The 30-year-old's future is currently up in the air, with Bayern Munich frontrunners in the race to sign the Tottenham star. Neville, however, thinks United would be wise to sign Kane - and hopes a deal is being worked on behind the scenes. "[Andre Onana] and Rasmus Hojlund, they're the two positions you are going to be put under the most scrutiny and they're the two players that have to settle in," he told The Overlap Fan Debate. "The reason I'm nervous about United's season is, you've got two unknowns at either end of the pitch in two focal positions that really have to hit it off for them to be better than last season. "I hope they're [Manchester United] being clever, and [Harry] Kane's being clever, and they're waiting to get a deal whereby they agree a deal with [Bayern] Munich, he says 'no I'm n...

BBC face issuing another apology after Women's World Cup backlash

Image
The BBC could be forced into making another apology after commentator Jonathan Pearce muttered in the background during France's national anthem on Tuesday. The 63-year-old was heard mumbling as Les Bleus players sang inside the Hindmarsh Stadium before their 4-0 victory over the African side. As 'La Marseillaise' rang out inside the ground, Pearce was heard speaking. The BBC commentator's words were broadcasted over the footage and he appeared to be conversing with a colleague while working on the game. Pearce was also heard asking 'was I on air there?' during the broadcast, while other unintelligible comments could be heard. Unimpressed fans then took to social media to slam the BBC man, with one saying: "Get rid of Jonathan Pearce commentating please! Inane space filler." Another said: "Why does the BBC keeping (sic) employing Jonathan Pearce?!? He’s the worst one by a mile." A third supporter said: "Quite a unique renditi...

Roy Keane backlash as Manchester United fans fume at football icon for new kit video

Image
Some Manchester United fans online have fumed at Roy Keane for helping to promote the club's new third shirt. The former Red Devils skipper, who won every major trophy during his time at Old Trafford, has featured in advertising for the white jersey. Yet while Keane has always been a beloved figure at United, some fans are now accusing the ex-Republic of Ireland international of working for the Glazers. The American family have owned United ever since 2005 but, 18 years on, still haven't invested a single penny of their own money into the side. One United fan on Twitter said: "Sad to see that Keano has also stooped this low and sold his soul to these greedy leeches. "Shame on you Roy Keane, even after knowing the pulse of the whole fanbase you are riding the greedy train with Glazers." Another said: "Get a replica. I'm kinda disappointed in Roy Keane, how did he get sold to the Glazers." A third user stated: Can't even enjoy anything...

Vegan food firm Beyond Meat sees sales plunge in £35m blow

Image
The vegan food firm specialising in plant-based meat substitutes has posted underwhelming financial results, with revenues dropping 30.5 per cent over the last three months compared to a year earlier. Beyond Meat has seen sales plunge by almost a third and share price tumble by 12 per cent after a rocky few months of restructuring. It comes as the company announced plans last year to cut almost a fifth of the workforce in a bid to recoup around $39million (£30.6million) in costs. In its Q2 report published on Monday, the vegan food form cited “macroeconomic factors” for the performance downturn, including "softer demand in the plant-based meat category, high inflation, rising interest rates, and ongoing concerns about the likelihood of a recession". Beyond Meat posted net revenues of $102.1million (£80million) for Q2, a decrease of 30.5 per cent (£35m) year-over-year. The root cause of such a slide was a 23.9 per cent decrease in volume of products sold over the s...

One dead and six in hospital after mystery E.coli outbreak in UK

Image
An E.Coli outbreak in the UK has killed one and hospitalised six others, with health officials left puzzled at the source. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is reportedly working with the Food Standards Agency (FSA) to determine what started the outbreak, which is believed to have begun in May. The UKHSA didn’t provide the ages of the patient who died or who have been hospitalised but said the age range was between “under one to 74”. The health body have said however that it has predominately been affecting children. 24 cases of the illness have been reported since May, including 19 in England and 4 in Northern Ireland, according to Food Safety News. Those affected have reported eating grated hard cheese, as well as strawberries, peppers and watermelon, before falling ill. However, officials have insisted that there is no evidence that any of these foods are responsible. UKHSA incident director, epidemiologist Amy Douglas said: “The UKHSA has identified an outbreak of ...

Covid and flu jabs scrapped for under 65s in NHS rollback

Image
Covid boosters and flu jabs will no longer be available on the NHS this year for 12 million people aged 50 to 64, as the government rows back on pandemic policies. In plans expected to be announced by the Government’s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation on Tuesday, the rollout of jabs will also be delayed until October this year. The number of people entitled to a free jab through the NHS will be nearly halved from the 26million eligible last year, though vulnerable groups will still be covered. The announcement has spread ripples of alarm through the medical community, with some professionals speaking out publicly to express fears that the UK will not be adequately prepared for the winter. Before the pandemic, flu jabs were offered to adults over the age of 65, children and younger adults with health conditions. The scope of eligibility was widened during the pandemic to include those aged 50 to 64, in line with the rollout of Covid boosters. This extension is ...

Stuart Broad explains warning he fired to England cricket players after retiring

Image
Stuart Broad has revealed he warned young players to learn from England's experienced heads in the wake of his recent retirement. The 37-year-old bowed out on a high earlier this month, dismissing Alex Carey to help his side win the fifth and final Ashes Test against Australia. Broad is now set to become a commentator, with the England icon already adjusting to life after cricket. And the bowler, speaking to the Daily Mail+, has now revealed he warned young players to learn from the likes of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum as they look to emulate his success. "It’s an incredible set-up," he said. "You know, I actually said to the guys in the Oval changing room last week how lucky the young players are to be having their cricketing education in this environment. "Learning how to go about international cricket from Baz and Stokesy will improve players way quicker than they would have improved in the past, and that certainly can be a huge positive for En...

Lauren James: Nigeria star makes feelings crystal clear after England Women's World Cup drama

Image
The Nigeria player who Lauren James stamped on has made it clear there's no hard feelings between the pair. The England star received a straight red card during Monday's dramatic victory at the Women's World Cup. James stamped on Michelle Alozie in the 87th minute of the contest, with England then reigning supreme following a dramatic penalty shootout. Yet the Nigeria star has nothing bad to say about her opponent, despite her side also crashing out. "It was good for us. James is a really good player," he said. "And nullifying her was really big for us. "We didn’t want her to move freely and get those shots off that she usually does. It was good for us to have her taken out of the game. "I was a little bit surprised by her reaction to the tackle. I don’t think it was really needed. "I’m fine, my butt is fine from her stepping on it! I was kind of confused initially. "I didn’t understand what was going on at first. There’s n...

How Lauren James reacted behind the scenes after England red card in Nigeria Women's World Cup win

Image
Lauren James was 'upset' in the dressing room after seeing red in England's Women's World Cup win over Nigeria on Monday. The 21-year-old saw red after stamping on Michelle Alozie, with the Lionesses then proceeding to win via a dramatic penalty shootout. James had previously been enjoying a sensational tournament, scoring three goals and clocking up four assists to boost England's hopes of glory. Her involvement in the rest of the tournament is now up in the air following a moment of madness, however. And England star Lucy Bronze has revealed James was left 'upset' following the drama, despite her side progressing to the quarter-finals of the competition. “Obviously she’s going to be disappointed in herself," said Bronze. "I went straight off the pitch after the game to make sure she was OK. “Obviously she was a little bit upset and rightfully so and more than anything she just feels bad for the team. "I said to her, ‘We’ve made ...

England star Lauren James receives straight red card for horrendous stamp on Nigeria player

Image
Lauren James has received a straight red card for stamping on a Nigeria player as England look to make the quarter-finals of the Women's World Cup. The 21-year-old has been outstanding at the competition so far, scoring three goals and registering three assists. But James has now acted in the heat of the moment and paid the ultimate price as a result. The Chelsea star was seen stamping on Michelle Alozie after a free-kick wasn't given in her favour. Initially, the referee was reluctant to send James off - merely brandishing a yellow card instead of a red. But she then performed a U-turn after help from VAR, with the England star looking devastated as she made her way off the field. Many fans on social media have reacted to the incident, comparing James with past England men's players such as David Beckham and Wayne Rooney. Beckham was dismissed in 1998 after kicking out at Diego Simeone, with England losing to Argentina that year. And Rooney received his march...

BBC causes fury with coverage of England and Nigeria Women's World Cup clash

Image
Fans on social media have slammed the BBC for their coverage of the Women's World Cup clash between England and Nigeria on Monday morning. Sarina Wiegman's side go into the game looking to continue their quest for the biggest trophy in world football. However, technical issues have caused frustrations among fans watching on the BBC. Nigeria star Ashleigh Plumptre crashed a shot off the underside of the crossbar early on as the African side looked to break the deadlock. However, those watching on the BBC heard about the shot from commentators Robyn Cowen and Rachel Brown-Finnis before the footage was actually aired. With Nigeria piling on the pressure early on, their attempts continued to be reported before being seen. "Come on England also please bbc sort out the commentary as its slightly ahead," said one unhappy fan. "The BBC commentary is ahead of the play," said a second. "Can’t believe the BBC commentators – five minutes ahead of the f...

Major high street store to close 20 per cent of its shops in bid to stay afloat

Image
The greetings card and gifts retailer, Clintons, is set to close a fifth of its stores in a last ditch attempt to stay afloat. Reports suggest that should the firm fail to close a deal, it may be left with little choice but to file for administration. Clintons has expressed intention to close 38 of its 179 shops, as it faces financial crisis for the third time in 11 years. The high street chain went bust in 2012 but was rescued by American Greetings, a supplier owned by the US-based Weiss family. Though the brand survived, 350 shops were culled and nearly 3,000 employees let go. Clintons went into administration again in 2019, and the Weiss family bailed it out once more though not without further job cuts and store closures. At its height, Clintons operated nearly 800 stores and employed 8,000 staff. Clintons was founded in 1968 by Don Lewin, the son of an East End chimney sweep. Lewin later wrote an autobiography titled Think of a Card and was awarded an OBE. Also i...

Virgin Atlantic pilots consider strike over fatigue

Image
Pilots at Virgin Atlantic are reportedly considering going on strike due to worries about fatigue at work and its impact on their wellbeing. In a recent vote, an overwhelming 96 per cent of Virgin pilots have supported a ballot on strike action. The concerns centre around Virgin’s scheduling and rostering arrangements, which came into place during the pandemic. Whilst the current schedule is in place until the end of the year, Virgin have said that they are willing to negotiate in the coming weeks. Virgin has said that the current pay and lifestyle agreement was “agreed, developed and supported by Balpa pilot representatives within Virgin Atlantic, and our pilot community”. The maximum flying time for a commercial pilot is 900 hours per year, according to the Civil Aviation Authority. A Virgin Atlantic pilot is rostered in for 750 hours on average. A spokesperson for Virgin Atlantic said: "We continue to honour all agreements and have offered to enter formal pay and l...
