Harry Kane joining Man Utd gets green light as Bayern Munich chase Tottenham star

Image
Former Manchester United star Gary Neville has given his old side the green light to sign Harry Kane this summer. The 30-year-old's future is currently up in the air, with Bayern Munich frontrunners in the race to sign the Tottenham star. Neville, however, thinks United would be wise to sign Kane - and hopes a deal is being worked on behind the scenes. "[Andre Onana] and Rasmus Hojlund, they're the two positions you are going to be put under the most scrutiny and they're the two players that have to settle in," he told The Overlap Fan Debate. "The reason I'm nervous about United's season is, you've got two unknowns at either end of the pitch in two focal positions that really have to hit it off for them to be better than last season. "I hope they're [Manchester United] being clever, and [Harry] Kane's being clever, and they're waiting to get a deal whereby they agree a deal with [Bayern] Munich, he says 'no I'm n...

BBC face issuing another apology after Women's World Cup backlash

Image
The BBC could be forced into making another apology after commentator Jonathan Pearce muttered in the background during France's national anthem on Tuesday. The 63-year-old was heard mumbling as Les Bleus players sang inside the Hindmarsh Stadium before their 4-0 victory over the African side. As 'La Marseillaise' rang out inside the ground, Pearce was heard speaking. The BBC commentator's words were broadcasted over the footage and he appeared to be conversing with a colleague while working on the game. Pearce was also heard asking 'was I on air there?' during the broadcast, while other unintelligible comments could be heard. Unimpressed fans then took to social media to slam the BBC man, with one saying: "Get rid of Jonathan Pearce commentating please! Inane space filler." Another said: "Why does the BBC keeping (sic) employing Jonathan Pearce?!? He’s the worst one by a mile." A third supporter said: "Quite a unique renditi...

Roy Keane backlash as Manchester United fans fume at football icon for new kit video

Image
Some Manchester United fans online have fumed at Roy Keane for helping to promote the club's new third shirt. The former Red Devils skipper, who won every major trophy during his time at Old Trafford, has featured in advertising for the white jersey. Yet while Keane has always been a beloved figure at United, some fans are now accusing the ex-Republic of Ireland international of working for the Glazers. The American family have owned United ever since 2005 but, 18 years on, still haven't invested a single penny of their own money into the side. One United fan on Twitter said: "Sad to see that Keano has also stooped this low and sold his soul to these greedy leeches. "Shame on you Roy Keane, even after knowing the pulse of the whole fanbase you are riding the greedy train with Glazers." Another said: "Get a replica. I'm kinda disappointed in Roy Keane, how did he get sold to the Glazers." A third user stated: Can't even enjoy anything...

Vegan food firm Beyond Meat sees sales plunge in £35m blow

Image
The vegan food firm specialising in plant-based meat substitutes has posted underwhelming financial results, with revenues dropping 30.5 per cent over the last three months compared to a year earlier. Beyond Meat has seen sales plunge by almost a third and share price tumble by 12 per cent after a rocky few months of restructuring. It comes as the company announced plans last year to cut almost a fifth of the workforce in a bid to recoup around $39million (£30.6million) in costs. In its Q2 report published on Monday, the vegan food form cited “macroeconomic factors” for the performance downturn, including "softer demand in the plant-based meat category, high inflation, rising interest rates, and ongoing concerns about the likelihood of a recession". Beyond Meat posted net revenues of $102.1million (£80million) for Q2, a decrease of 30.5 per cent (£35m) year-over-year. The root cause of such a slide was a 23.9 per cent decrease in volume of products sold over the s...

An E.Coli outbreak in the UK has killed one and hospitalised six others, with health officials left puzzled at the source. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is reportedly working with the Food Standards Agency (FSA) to determine what started the outbreak, which is believed to have begun in May. The UKHSA didn’t provide the ages of the patient who died or who have been hospitalised but said the age range was between “under one to 74”. The health body have said however that it has predominately been affecting children. 24 cases of the illness have been reported since May, including 19 in England and 4 in Northern Ireland, according to Food Safety News. Those affected have reported eating grated hard cheese, as well as strawberries, peppers and watermelon, before falling ill. However, officials have insisted that there is no evidence that any of these foods are responsible. UKHSA incident director, epidemiologist Amy Douglas said: “The UKHSA has identified an outbreak of ...
